GMB viewers ‘switch off’ water cremation row as they beg guest ‘pipe down’
Pastor says water cremation is ‘distasteful’
Good Morning Britain guest Pastor Lorraine Jones expressed her discontent and fury over the proposed water cremation, but left viewers to switch off from the debate for being too “hysterical”.
Today it will be announced that water cremation will become an option, alongside traditional cremations and burials for people in the UK.
The process sees the deceased enclosed in a biodegradable pouch and placed in a container filled with pressurised water and potassium hydroxide, making it more eco-friendly.
However, Lorraine found the process “wrong” and expressed her concerns about how the families would feel alongside how impersonal it is.
She expressed: “It is wrong! The process, what happens to our loved one’s body if they are going through this water cremation.

“The traditional burial is of great importance especially as we are seeing more and more young people being killed and parents having to bury their children.
“Footballers, those who are interested in golf boxing, the ceremony is a celebration of their life and we tend to put so much into it because we have little ones and want to make it so beautiful.
“This process and knowing what it will go through, it is trauma [and] they are saying this way is more eco-friendly.
“But the concern is if we are having rapid water cremation, what happens to the fluids? I know once the body is decomposed, I think it is 300 gallons that is a lot of water for one and if we are having a lot of that it’s concerning.”

However, many fans felt that it was up to the family and the individual person on how they want to be buried once they die, and found Lorraine to be too “hysterical”.
Taking to their Twitter, user Jane Inglefield expressed: “Who’s this hysterical woman ?? #GMB.”
@Steffols: “Why is this lady on Good Morning Britain so hysterical over water cremation? It’s just an added method of disposal that you can choose, there’s no need to get so angry and upset. #gmb.”
@Fifirella: “Having to switch off this woman is crazy aggressive and a pastor to boot #gmb @GMB Way too much on a Monday morning.”
Lando Griffin: “What is this woman on #GMB on about? Ranting about isolated anecdotes, rather than debating the issue/subject. She hasn’t given one good argument against water burial. Not one.”
Angi George: “#gmb Why is that female pastor shouting? If people can’t afford a funeral then water cremation is ideal. She needs to pipe down a bit.” (sic)
However, not all viewers were against Lorraine’s point of view, as @ThomDonnay agreed: “She has a point… water cremation means no coffin, not decorations, not personalisation. Its insensitive and should never have been thought of.” (sic)
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
