Gogglebox fans fume over latest episode as they all have same complaint
Gogglebox fans have been left fuming after the latest instalment unexpectedly turned out to be a "best bits" instalment instead of the usual brand new content.
Fans had been gearing up for their usual Friday night fix all day, and were incredibly excited for a dose of hilarity from their favourite telly-watchers.
But unfortunately, seconds after they tuned in to Channel 4 for 9pm, viewers learned they would be faced with a string of montage clips instead.
Confused over why there wasn't a new instalment, fans took to social media to share their frustration.
"I feel cheated. A Gogglebox mish mash #Gogglebox," one viewer tweeted in annoyance.
Another fan asked: "What the point of a ‘best bits’? We’ve seen it, we’ve laughed already. Daft. #gogglebox."
"FFS! #Gogglebox Do not advertise tonight's episode as 'New' when it's just what you call "best bits" of the series so far," a third grumbled.
While a fourth fan shared sadly: "#Gogglebox Awww, its supposed to be a new episode."
Despite many fans puzzled by the TV schedule and annoyed they weren't blessed with a new episode, fan-favourites Jenny Newby and Lee Riley already revealed that the last episode of the new series aired earlier this month.
Taking to Instagram to warn fans at the time, Lee shared in a video: "Hi everybody this evening will be the last show of this series.
"Have a lovely summer everybody and we'll see you in September!"
The hilarious duo then captioned the post: "Happy Friday everyone gutted it’s the last show of series 21 have a fabulous summer and we’ll be back on the couch in September xx."
Fans then shared their confusion a week later as the TV listings seemed to hint otherwise.
"Hiya, just slightly confused as tonight’s tv listings has a new Gogglebox scheduled for 9pm," one person wondered, as another suggested it would be a "best bits" instead.
Others were heartbroken that the pair wouldn't be back on screens until the autumn.
"September?! How will we survive? enjoy your summer!" one person sobbed, followed by: "Aww just love you both you make smile laugh and you have such a great friendship xx"
While last week's show was the final instalment of the season, the stars of Gogglebox were busy with major life developments instead, as two couples from the series welcomed babies.
Pete Sandiford welcomed his second child into the world with Paige Yeoman, a little girl called Evie, and Ellie Warner gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named Ezra with her partner Nat Eddlestone.
Gogglebox continues every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4
