Gwen Stefani fights tears on The One Show as fans distracted by appearance

Gwen Stefani fought back tears during her appearance on The One Show after hosts Jermaine Jenas and Alex Jones gave her a surprise.

The BBC hosts shared a clip from one of Gwen’s biggest inspirations, Pauline Black OBE.

After sharing a clip from her idol, the Hollaback Girl singer appeared to wipe tears from her eyes.

In the video, Pauline said: “Hi Gwen, it’s Pauline. I am absolutely thrilled that I influenced you and your music.”

She signed off the clip: “Sending you lots of love.”

“I could cry right now,” Gwen said afterward. “Zoom in guys, these are real tears.”

As Gwen wiped tears from her face she told the hosts she was shaking.

“I can’t believe that,” she beamed. “That is incredible.”

“We can understand why,” Jermaine chipped in as Gwen fired back. “No you don’t understand anything, she was my idol when I was 13 and she just talked to me.”

“You don’t understand because the music was very underground…we discovered it,” she added.

“And nobody knew what it was and the fact that you know, they were singing about London, they were singing about Camden and the culture so I became like a huge fan.

“Never thinking I’d come here, let alone being on TV right now with you guys.

“And then watching her talk to me on TV. That was weird. Thank you, guys.”

The One Show viewers were also left blown away by Gwen’s ageless appearance, with many commenting on how good she looked at 53 years old.
