Helen Skelton finds it difficult getting close to Strictly partner after split

Helen Skelton has announced she's found it challenging to get close to her professional dancer partner ahead of this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly bosses are yet to reveal this year's pairings, however rehearsals have kickstarted as 15 celebs battle it to be crowned this year's champion.

Helen, 39, has revealed that since her public split from Richie Myler, she's found it difficult for her dance partner to enter her "personal space".

The former Blue Peter presenter split from Richie after their eight-year marriage faltered in April.

Talking about her upcoming Strictly stint, she said recently: "Yesterday when we were getting close, my partner was like 'every time I get close to you, you jump away.'"

Helen said that she told her dance partner that they each have their own space and that it's something that they will have to get used to.

The Countryfile presenter explained: "Things like that are what you have to get used to. I think that'll be the challenge."

Helen's Strictly stunt comes a few months after she announced that she and her ex-husband Richie had ended things shortly after welcoming their third child.

Helen announced in April that she and Richie are "no longer a couple" and said he had moved out of the family home.

Strictly had been due to air earlier this month but was postponed following the news that Queen Elizabeth II had died on September 8.

It will now be broadcast on Friday (September 23), with the episode revealing which professional dancer each celebrity has partnered with.

The pre-recorded episode will be followed by the first live show on Saturday evening (September 24), which will feature the debut routines of the participating contestants.
