Netflix’s new Addams Family series Wednesday has become a global smash after its debut back in November. The show has racked up one billion hours as audiences watch the eight-part series focusing on Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega) as she finds her place at a new school, the Nevermore Academy. The school has some quirky students including Wednesday’s friend Eugene Ottinger (Moosa Mostafa) with viewers curious about his supernatural abilities.

What is Eugene in Wednesday?
Eugene’s powers are only touched upon in Wednesday with the character revealed to have the ability to control bees, which is known as Apikinesis.
He used his power to attack teacher and antagonist Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) as she made a bid to take down the school in revenge for her ancestors.
However, beyond this Eugene’s powers are still to be explored but given the phenomenal success of Wednesday this could happen in a possible season two.
Eugene could have further abilities beyond simply harnessing the power of bees and his power may extend to other creatures.
What was clear was Eugene’s deep love and bond with bees as he served as the head of Nevermore’s bee-keeping club with the eccentric teenager often speaking to them.
Wednesday and Eugene became friends after they started investigating the strange attacks around town.
Sadly, Eugene was a victim of the Hyde which was discovered to be killing people both magical people and ‘Normies’ – or non-magical people alike.
Unlike the others though, Eugene survived his attack and lived to see another day with Wednesday classing him as one of her friends – something of a first for her.
The only other things viewers learnt about Eugene was he didn’t appear to have any siblings and was raised by his two mothers.
He was also an outcast at Nevermore which was ironically a place for magical outcasts.
Eugene was low down the pecking social order at the high school and had a crush on Wednesday’s roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and tried to get her attention to no avail.
A potential season two could see Eugene and Wednesday solving more cases together with the bond deepening between them.
Who plays Eugene in Wednesday?
Eugene is portrayed by Moosa Mostafa with the role marking the rising star’s biggest part to date.
The 14-year-old actor hails from Warwickshire and has proved to be something of a breakout from Wednesday.
Prior to landing his role in Wednesday, the teen starred in the TV series The Last Bus in the role of Nas.
He also starred in the film Nativity Rocks! in 2018 as a schoolboy, according to IMDb.
Moosa might have become a Hollywood star but he also still goes to school and has ambitions for further studies and going to university.
He told Coventry Live how Wednesday had propelled him into the spotlight, admitting whenever he went into town he was recognised.
“It’s odd walking around like I’m normal which wouldn’t happen normally,” he told the publication.
Moosa has been sharing some behind-the-scenes photos from Wednesday, including the bee-keeping club’s base as well as filming on the show with co-star Jenna.
He shared a selection of images from Wednesday with his 397,000 Instagram followers and wrote: “What a great opportunity. Love these guys.”
