Tyler West has quickly landed himself in the running for this year’s Glitterball Trophy after a muted start in week one of the competition when he started out in the middle of the leaderboard with 22 points. Since then, Tyler has been working his way up the rankings and reigned victorious at the top in week three when he got a whopping 38 from the judges for his efforts. With the Kiss FM DJ clearly becoming a favourite on Strictly Come Dancing, BBC audiences are keen to learn more about Tyler.
How tall is Strictly Come Dancing star Tyler West?
According to his IMDb profile, Tyler is 6ft 3in or 1.92m, which means he towers over his partner Dianne Buswell, who has said to come in at 5ft 2in.
This week Tyler slid back down the leaderboard to third place with 37 points, just behind Fleur East and Vito Coppola who got 38 and Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal with a jaw-dropping score of 39.
Nonetheless, Tyler is still flying high in the competition with the radio star getting odds of 5/1 from the bookmakers Paddy Power and Betfair, while Coral has him down for 4/1.
Wildlife presenter and cameraman Hamza is leading the racer with 7/4 from bet365 and 2/1 from William Hill.
In third place to be named the Strictly 2022 champion is pop star and actor Will Mellor with 7/2 from Unibet and Skybet.
Speaking about topping the leaderboard in week three, Dianne posted a video of their performance from the show, with Tyler re-sharing it with his 62,000 followers.
Dianne hailed her partner and said: “Wow !!!!! I’m still in shock from last night. First tens of the series. WHATTTTTTT !!!!!!
“As Anton said last night I was living my best life out there and that’s down to @tylerwestt being so determined and hard working during the week to make this dance brilliant.
“I know it was a tough one for you physically but you never gave up and I’m so grateful for that. You are a star.
“I also want to thank @jennytaps1 and @sean.moon for the brilliant choreography you guys are amazing thank you for all your patience and kindness.”
She concluded: “And lastly thanks so much to all of you watching last night I think it was one of the best movie weeks yet ! EVERY BODY danced so well such an entertaining night.”
This week, Tyler and Dianne will be getting their groove on to Tango to the Doctor Who theme tune as part of Strictly’s special BBC 100 to mark the broadcaster’s centenary.
All of the couples will be performing their dances to well-loved and iconic tracks from BBC shows throughout the years including Line of Duty, Grange Hill, the Blue Peter theme and the Casualty theme, among others.
Most recently, Tyler performed a contemporary routine to a mash-up of garage hits with the star saying in an emotional VT: “This week is Couple’s Choice and I’m dancing to a mega garage mix. The tunes in the mega mix are just ones that have instantly put a smile on my face.
“Where we grew up, there wasn’t a lot of opportunities and music and sport and my mum were the things that kept me and brother on the straight and narrow.
“Mum sacrificed everything throughout our childhood and just made ends meet.”
Tyler started hosting his first show on CBBC called KickAbout+ which was focused on sports beyond football, which was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award.
He has also served as a host for HQ Trivia, an award-winning trivia app as well as hosting the live show weekly.
The star joined Kiss FM back in 2019 and went on to earn a nomination for Best New Presenter at the 2020 ARIA Awards.
In 2021 he landed his first BBC Three show Flat Out Fabulous, an interior design show for millennials looking to transform their homes on a budget.
He is also now hosting The MTV Movie Show and speaks to Hollywood A-listers as well as reviewing the latest movies.
