Hollyoaks legend dies 20 years after arrival in show
Hollyoaks has killed off Justin Burton (Chris Fountain), with the latest outing of the Channel 4 soap, which aired on Tuesday (April 11), confirming that the character died last year.
Justin, as fans will know, is the biological father of Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan), who has been on a mission to track his down his dad after a blazing row with Darren Osbourne (Ashley Taylor Dawson).
The teen, however, made a huge discovery while out on his quest, with a social media search bringing up a memorial page for Justin, who viewers were told died in October last year, leaving him crushed.
Justin was a former mainstay of the show, who rocked up in the eponymous village with his family back in 2003, before featuring in a number of huge storylines over a six-year period.
The character’s biggest narrative saw him develop a crush on teacher Becca Dean (Ali Bastian), with the two subsequently having an inappropriate relationship.
Becca fell pregnant and was at first unsure if the dad was Jake, who she was seeing at the time, or Justin.
Justin was upset when she chose to be with Jake over him, with the character subsequently reporting Becca to the police, claiming they had begun a relationship when he was 15, with Becca sentenced to prison, where she gave birth to Charlie.
Justin, meanwhile, later admitted that he lied, and thus Becca was set to released from prison, but on the day of her release, she was stabbed by inmate Fran Hathaway.

In his later years in the village, Justin developed a friendship with Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and got involved in dodgy dealings with Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), before ultimately leaving the village in 2009.
The character’s final scenes saw him blamed for a fire at The Loft, which was started by Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix), and thus he fled the village with Russ Owen (Stuart Manning).
Hollyoaks continues Wednesday April 12 at 7pm on E4, or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
