Hollyoaks star Anna Passey reacts to Sienna being sacked
Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) is dealt a devastating blow in Hollyoaks later this week when Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) is forced to sack her from the cleaning business.
Ste, as viewers know, has been struggling to make ends meets as of late and, with bills piling up, Leela Lomax (Kirsty Leigh Porter) urges him to stop letting personal feelings cloud his judgement.
In a bid to save money, the Deadly Sheen founder is forced to break the news to Sienna that he’s having to let her go. The news comes as a shock, with Sienna having had her heart set on making enough to afford a new dream home for herself, Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) and her children.
To complicate matters further, Sienna has agreed to be Ste’s best woman for his wedding to James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), but the shock of being sacked sees her walk out of wedding planning.
The two friends, who first bonded last year when they went into business together, are at odds as a result of these upcoming developments, but just what does this mean for their future?
‘Sienna’s really sad when Ste sacks her obviously,’ actress Anna Passey told Metro.co.uk. ‘I think she’s quite heartbroken by that because it was a partnership and something she was quite proud to be a part of.
‘She was really kicked out of the club.’
Anna, however, explained that despite Sienna’s anger and upset, the character will always put friendship first, speculating that this isn’t the end for the iconic duo that is Sienna and Ste.
‘Even though she’ll be very upset with Ste, I do think she will put her friendship with him first,’ said the soap star. ‘I think she will be angry with him until he needs her, and when he needs her, she’ll be there.’
Sienna and Ste’s friendship took viewers by surprise when they were first paired up last year, with the two having been responsible for many of the funnier moments in the Channel 4 soap over the past 12 months.

‘You have two characters that are completely opposite to each other in almost every single way but one thing that they share is that they put their families first so I think that they can relate to each other on that level,’ explained Anna in regards to why she thinks the dynamic has been so successful.
‘I think the dynamic of the two of them is that they’re both quite big personalities in their own right.
We have scenes were neither of them are listening to one another and they’re ploughing through with their own agenda so that’s quite fun and entertaining to watch and underlying all of that is a genuine love with quite unexpected characters.
‘I think they see a little bit of their own troubled pasts in each other and I think we will always root for their friendship because when it comes to the crutch of it, they always have the other one’s back.’
One to watch: Friday May 5 at 7pm on E4.
