Is Leyla leaving Emmerdale and does she die?
When Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) decided to stand up to ruthless drug dealer Callum (Tom Ashley) in Emmerdale, she didn’t realise how much danger her reckless actions would put her and her loved ones in.
Spotting Callum dealing drugs in a club while she was on a night out with Suzy, Leyla decided it was the perfect opportunity to get revenge on the drug dealer who’d put her son Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) in hospital after stabbing him during an altercation.
She filmed him dealing drugs and then tipped off the police – but her big mistake came when she couldn’t resist telling Callum that it was thanks to her that he was being arrested.
Suzy (Martelle Edinborough) warned her that this could backfire, and sure enough it wasn’t long before Suzy found herself a target of an enraged Callum after trying to get rid of him after putting a rumour about among her contacts that he was a grass.
Callum smashed Suzy over the head with a brick leaving her for dead and, in Tuesday’s (March 14) episode, David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Jacob are furious with Leyla for putting all of them in danger after Callum threatened to come after Jacob again.
Some words of advice from Caleb (William Ash) make Leyla realise that she has to take decisive action to get rid of Callum once and for all.
So, she arranges to meet the drug dealer at a remote location, hoping to pay him off.
‘She thinks if she can utilise every single financial asset she’s got and offer him everything, that will resolve the situation because he’ll feel like there’s nothing left for him to take from her,’ Roxy Shahidi told us. ‘So she sells her car, she maxes out her credit card and she goes to meet him. She’s hoping that that is going to draw a line under it.’
But Leyla is not prepared for what happens next.
‘‘He takes her money and stuffs her in the boot of the car,’ Roxy revealed. ‘He takes her to an unknown destination.’
Is Leyla leaving and does she die?
Leyla is certainly in a deadly situation as Callum drives off with her kicking and screaming in the boot of his car. We’ve already seen how ruthless he can be, with Suzy and Jacob falling victim to his anger. And he’s furious with Leyla, who has done her best to make sure he goes to prison for a long time. So she is definitely in huge peril.
Suzy asked her to pick her up from the hospital the next day and Leyla agreed that she would. This means that it won’t be long before Suzy realises that something has happened to her friend and hopefully she’ll think of a way she can save Leyla.
Meanwhile, as far as we know Roxy Shahidi has no plans to leave Emmerdale and she recently hinted that there could be romance in store for Caleb and Leyla when she was asked if there would be a spark between her and the businessman.

‘I think there’s a spark for Leyla with any potential suitor ever, so I’m going to say yes,’ was her cheeky reply.
For such a romance to develop, we obviously need Leyla alive so we have grounds to hope that she will manage to escape Callum’s clutches – but how?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at Tuesday March 15 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
