Is Roger Haworth leaving General Hospital and does Austin die?
General Hospital fans were left in shock last week when Austin Gatlin-Holt was attacked by hook-wielding serial killer Heather Webber, who had escaped from captivity with Ryan Chamberlain.
Killers Ryan and Heather joined forces to stage an escape from Spring Ridge prison, taking heavily pregnant daughter Esme along for the ride.
Ryan subsequently made his way to Wyndemere, where he surprised Ava Jerome and Felicia Scorpio, taking both women hostage with the gun he acquired from Mac, who he’d attacked previously.
Austin, who has been by Eva’s side every step of the way she since murdered Nikolas Cassadine, entered the property through the front door, presumably to continue his discussion with Ava over what to do with Nikolas’ body.
Things, however, took a shocking turn, as he was spooked by voices coming from the living room and, after putting two and two together, he reached for his mobile phone to call for help, hoping to notify someone that escapee Ryan was at Wyndemere.
But before he could do so, Austin was attacked by Heather’s signature hook!
Is this truly the end of Austin? Is actor Roger Haworth leaving GH once more?
Is Roger Haworth leaving General Hospital and does Austin die?
Roger Haworth is no stranger to coming and going on General Hospital, with the actor having played several roles on the daytime soap opera. But is his time as Austin up?
The jury is still out on that one, we’re afraid.
Austin is entangled in the middle of an ongoing storyline, given that he’s assisting Ava in covering up Nikolas’ death, with him having been seen last week discussing the possibility of getting rid of the body.
Would GH really be so bold as to kill him off mid-storyline? Especially when he was starting to grow very close to Ava?
Roger, 54, recently took part in GH’s 60th anniversary photoshoot, which was unveiled last week, so we reckon it’s unlikely that he’ll be killed off.
But if Austin is killed, it’s unlikely that actor Roger would be written out of the show, given that he’s played numerous characters in General Hospital over the years.
Prior to landing the role of Austin, Roger played Franco, a role previously created and portrayed by James Franco, between 2013 and 2021.
Franco was shot and killed by Peter August in 2021, but it was later confirmed that Roger would remain on the show, with new character Austin making his debut just months later.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
