Jay gets rid of Lola video and walks in front of car in sad EastEnders scenes
Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has been left devastated by the tragic loss of wife Lola in EastEnders, and in recent scenes it became clear just how much he was struggling with his grief.
After assuring daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) that she didn’t have to worry about Jay, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) watched as Jay stepped out into the road, narrowly avoiding being hit by an oncoming car.
As Ben chased after him, he watched him drop something into a bin, before confronting him at the car lot.
Jay explained that he had simply been ‘miles away’ when the car came round the corner, but was taken aback when Ben pulled out the memory stick containing Lola’s video that he had just thrown away.
When Ben pointed out that Jay hadn’t seemed at all bothered by the fact that he had nearly died, Jay revealed that he wasn’t afraid of dying anymore, as nothing would ever be as scary as losing Lola.

As Ben struggled to accept what his friend was saying, Jay explained that the vicar had told him that he would see Lola again one day ‘upstairs’.
Ben joked that Jay wouldn’t be going upstairs when he died and managed to get a lacklustre chuckle out of him.
With Ben still clearly concerned, Jay assured him that he didn’t plan on going anywhere just yet.
Ben reminded him that ‘life is for living’, to which Jay revealed what Lola had said in her video, pointing out that he didn’t want to hear her telling him to carry on living his life when he didn’t feel like he could.
With Jay clearly struggling, Ben opened up about still missing partner Paul, who died after a homophobic attack several years ago.
Ben told him that he should keep the memory stick safe, as he may feel strong enough to look at it one day, before asking him to move in with him and Callum (Tony Clay).
Jay eventually accepted his support and agreed to the move.
Has Ben got through to his friend, or will Jay continue to suffer in silence?
