Laura Whitmore's wisecrack about Love Island's Tasha Ghouri 'backfires'
Saturday Kitchen viewers have slammed Laura Whitmore after a quip she made about Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri backfired.
Appearing on a rerun of Matt Tebbut’s BBC show this morning, the Love Island host made a playful jibe at Tasha, who left the villa earlier this month in fourth place with Andrew Le Page.
Speaking about rosé, Laura tried to take a dig about Tasha’s lack of wine knowledge, but when one of the Saturday Kitchen guests jumped in to correct the Irish presenter, fans were quick to comment on how things had ‘backfired’.
Laura, who was making her Saturday Kitchen debut, was speaking about how much she and her husband, Love Island narrator Iain Stirling love rosé, before saying: ‘Also, Tasha on Love Island this year she thought rose wine was red white and white wine mixed together which is apparently not how you make it.’
Helen McGinn jumped in and added: ‘Well I have to say Tasha’s not completely wrong.’
Laura added: ‘Oh! Go on!’ as Helen explained: ‘In Champagne you are allowed to mix red and white wine to make rose, but only in Champagne in France.’
Laura replied: ‘Do you think Tasha thought that?’ to which Helen said: ‘I love Tasha!’
Viewers weren’t too happy over Laura’s comments, with one sharing: ‘One minute in and Laura has already tried to shame someone else’s intelligence, only for it to backfire and she has come out as the stupid one.’
