Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s daughter in tears after spooky incident at family home

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's daughter Cecile was left in tears after returning to the room in her family home where she experienced an unnerving paranormal incident.

The daughter of TV personality and Changing Rooms legend Laurence joins him on the new series of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, which is currently airing on streaming service Discovery+.

One episode sees the Help! My House Is Haunted Team – dark arts specialist Ian Lawman, paranormal researcher and historian Jayne Harris, and investigator Barri Ghai – visit Laurence's 17th century home to investigate unexplained occurrences of paranormal activity in the residence.

While Laurence tells them that he has never experienced any paranormal activity himself, he said that visitors and his family often say: "Oh my God, did you see that, did you hear that?"

He explains that his eldest daughter Cecile has encountered activity in the house, adding: "Cecile, my oldest daughter, definitely feels very strongly that she’s had moments where things have happened, where she cannot in any way explain, so it’s near constant that people are reacting to unexplained phenomena."

Cecile joins the team for their investigation and takes them to an upstairs bedroom where she was putting her baby son down to sleep, only to hear him crying.

When she entered the room, she said she heard a voice say "shhh" and then her son stopped crying.

Speaking about the incident, Cecile said: "I returned five minutes later but halfway through, while he was crying, I heard a very distinctive ‘shhh’ sound and he [the baby] went absolutely silent… I went back in to make sure there wasn’t anyone in there with him, there wasn’t.

"The windows were closed, it wasn’t like I could have heard someone shushing from outside him. I think I went white as a sheet and I felt a sort of coldness at the idea of leaving a child in a room with a spirit that seemingly could be soothing and comforting him, but it could also be quite malevolent, was the most distressing thing I think.

"Still to this day I really struggle to go into that room."

Local historian Robin Shuckburgh later informs Jayne that a tragic incident occurred at the home, which saw a well respected midwife called Elizabeth Hewlings die from injuries sustained during a raid at a Quaker Meeting.

Following the revelation, Ian and Cecile try to trigger activity in the upstairs bedroom, with Ian asking the female presence he sensed to speak to them.

They hear a voice say, "Sneak, July" to which Jayne replies on a two-way radio that the Quaker Meeting raid occurred in July 1670.

Cecile appears teary and shaken, but she tells Ian that she is ok to carry on and she fixates on the corner where her baby's cot was.

As Cecile places herself in the corner, a voice through an ITC device says "stand," causing Cecile to become more distressed.

"I'm rooted to the spot, my legs feel like a little bit jellied, very tingly, and my breasts are prickling, like when a baby starts crying, I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable actually," Cecile tells Ian.

She continued: "I feel a bit antsy and a bit distressed…I think I want to stop."

They stop their session, with the Help! My House Is Haunted Team continuing their investigation throughout the episode to explore the paranormal occurrences in the home.

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is just one of the stars to feature on the latest series of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, with choreographer and former Dancing On Ice judge Louie Spence featuring in the first episode of series two.
