Linda's Valentine's Day agony as Mick's death hits hard in EastEnders
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is currently grieving the loss of the love of her life, Mick (Danny Dyer), after he vanished in tragic scenes in the Christmas Day episode of EastEnders.
Having just rekindled their love and reaffirmed that they saw their future together shortly before Mick vanished, Linda has naturally taken his loss hard. And the very hardest times for people who are grieving are big calendar days – birthdays, Christmases and Valentine’s Day.
Coming only a few short weeks after losing Mick, Linda approaches February 14 with dread. In December Kellie Bright told us about the scene she’d recently been filming.
‘We’ve just filmed some Valentine’s Day stuff and there’s a little picture of Mick up behind the bar and I wish him a happy Valentine’s Day and blow him a kiss,’ she said – and our hearts are genuinely breaking just picturing that scene.
‘He’s still very present for her in that way,’ Kellie added.
But life goes on, and for Linda it means a huge upcoming storyline. ‘I know I’m part of something that’s going to be quite big and I’m excited about that,’ she told us.
The show’s boss Chris Clenshaw added, ‘Kellie is going to start shooting something in January that goes out in February and it’s something that we as a show haven’t done before. Linda’s at the centre of that.’
So there’s plenty to look forward to for Linda as she learns to navigate her life in a world without her soul mate in it.
