Love Island final date ‘revealed’ – and it’s just weeks away
Love Island's final date has been revealed, and it's reportedly only a few weeks away.
The winter edition of the ITV2 show this year has had plenty of drama between the couples, but not enough genuine connections for viewers to have an eye on who'll be in the final just yet.
But despite many believing there isn't enough time for the current couples' romances to take off, reports have claimed that the show will run for its traditional eight weeks.
That will mean that this series' finale will air on Monday 13 March.
There has also been recent speculation that the latest edition would only run for six weeks in keeping with Winter Love Island's first outing, but according to a source, the format will stay on track with the summer edition instead.
“There was speculation that the current series might only run for six weeks as that was the format for the first Winter Love Island outing in 2020," a source told The Sun. “By the same token, there was talk last year that the summer series could be extended as ratings were so impressive thanks to the likes of Ekin-Su and Davide.
“But bosses plan to stick to their usual eight week schedule and crown their winners on March 13th."
The source went on to say that the islanders will only have four weeks left to "find love," which could prove difficult for some who are struggling to find chemistry with the right person in the villa.
OK! has contacted ITV for comment.
But while viewing figures were said to be slower to "ignite" this series, the recent drama has seen ratings "soar".
Each night, ITV2 is seeing around 1.5million viewers tuning in to the show, and even more are spending the next day watching Love Island on catch-up.
Many fans are getting fed up of the constant back and forth between originals Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins, both 25, and some have even begged Lana to ditch Ron, who is involved in a new clash with Shaq in the next episode, for good after his constant yo-yoing between new bombshells.
Yet after his latest disappearing act that saw him getting to know Samie Elishi, 22, Lana decided enough was enough and she recoupled with 26 year old Casey O'Gorman instead.
The bold move seemed to upset and disappoint Essex lad Ron in equal measure, and prompted him to change his approach going forward.
Despite mistrust from some of the other boys – Shaq Muhammad, 24, in particular – Ron is determined to prove himself and stay loyal to Lana going forward.
But as fans already know, everything could change when the islanders are split up in Casa Amor.
Elsewhere, a simmering feud between ring girl Olivia Hawkins, 27, and Tanyel Revan, 26, could be coming to a head in upcoming episodes.
The latest instalment saw Olivia, who is coupled up with Kai Fagan, 24, share her true feelings about the Essex girl with Shaq, and fans are convinced the pair secretly dislike each other.
While there have been a "record number" of bombshells put into the villa this season in a bid to "ramp up" the action, there could also be yet more drama ahead with the return of challenges such as Movie Night.
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
