Love Island viewers question Ron over his emotional heart-to-heart with Casey
Love Island viewers had plenty to say during Monday night’s episode of the popular ITV dating show, after a shock re-coupling saw Lana Jenkins part ways with love interest Ron Hall to pursue a romance with Casey O’Gorman.
After wrestling with the decision, Lana appeared to be visibly upset in the aftermath of her choice, and even sought out Ron to explain herself and move on amicably, however in a brutal snub, Ron refused to speak to her, adding that it was “too soon” in a move which clearly wounded the makeup artist.
Yet to make matters worse, mere seconds later, Ron instead rose to his feet and went to go and speak to his love rival Casey instead, a decision which only further snubbed Lana as she looked on in shock.
“You’ve got a good one man. I promise you, you got such a good one,” Ron told Casey during their intimate chat.
“I know I —“ Casey began, but was quickly cut off by Ron as the snubbed Islander continued talking.
“Don’t do what I did, and try and f**k things up because you’re scared. Just go full steam ahead with her because she needs it. She needs a good bloke,” he added.
“Yeah, no I will. I definitely will,” agreed Casey.
“You know how special she is, even after, like, a couple of days mate.” Once again Ron praised Lana, even despite having admitted he had previously made some mistakes along the way.
Casey then replied: “Yeah, she’s so great, and I’ll try and be as good as possible and make her as happy as possible so…”
“I meant what I said before,” Ron added finally. “Honestly regardless of outcome, as long as she’s happy. And I’m happy for you. Honestly I’m happy for you as well. You do make her laugh, you do make her smile and that’s what she’s needed in here.”
Despite the surface level of emotion, fans at home were quick to question the heart to heart, with many suspicious about his motives, as they accused him of “playing a game.”
“Ron is playing a game he knows he doesn't care about her, he just didn't wanna be rejected, and Lana is playing to, she's gonna go back to Ron 100% she done it to make him play, they’re both annoying,” wrote one fan.
Another agreed, adding: "Ron is soooo text book lmao don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone he really thought he’d won this one i hope Lana gives Casey her all and ignores the mind f**k games Ron is about to play.”
One fan also took issue with the way Ron snubbed Lana in favour of Casey, as they likened their treatment of the star like a trophy to be won.
They wrote: “Ron refusing to speak to Lana and speaking to Casey to give his blessing made me think even more that it was all like a football game to him and it’s like he treats Lana like a trophy.”
Another fan couldn’t quite understand why Ron was now playing the victim too when he had previously treated Lana so poorly in the past.
They wrote: “Don't get why Ron is trying to act hurt over Lana choosing Casey you hurt her more wanting other girls over her.”
A second fan also agreed, as they weighed in and added: Ron thinking Lana’s decision doesn’t make any sense when in-fact that’s the only thing that make sense…I feel like he’s unaware that his mates in the villa is over the moon for Lana, like he needs to be questioning his behaviour not Lana’s”
Will the couple manage to reconcile?
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
