Love Island’s Martin takes brutal swipe at Tanya as he claims she ‘doesn’t love Shaq’
Love Island's Martin Akinola didn’t hold back his opinions after being dumped from the show on Friday night.
During the episode, Islanders were made to gather around the firepit in a shocking recoupling just a day after bombshells Rosie Seabrook and Keanan Brand came in.
Martin was the last man standing after Tanya Manhenga chose to couple back up with her former flame Shaq Muhammad.
Tanya previously called time on her romance with Martin, admitting there’s no longer a spark between them just days after she bought him back from Casa Amor and left Shaq single.
However, arguments really started brewing after the intimate Jax Jones concert when Tanya decided it was the right time to declare her love for Shaq in front of all the other islanders.
In the romantic speech, the 22-year-old also confessed to sneakily creeping out of the bed that she shares with Martin to go for a cheeky kiss and cuddle with Shaq.
Martin was left fuming that she didn’t tell him about the kiss and that she didn’t give him the heads up she was getting back with Shaq so quickly.
After smoothing things over with Martin that night, Tanya then ran into trouble with Shaq after movie night revealed clips of her flirting and kissing in Casa Amor.
Shaq was left devastated and asked her to look him in the eyes and be honest about whether she really does love him.
Despite all of the drama, Tanya and Shaq coupled up on Friday, telling him: “We’ve had our ups and downs in here, but I truly believe love conquers all…”
As a result, Martin was sadly sent packing, leaving the gorgeous villa in South Africa and going back to Dublin, but not before telling viewers his honest opinions about Tanya and Shaq.
In his exit interview, the 27-year-old engineer said: “Genuinely, I think Shaq might be in love with her. But I don’t think she’s in love with him.
“She followed her heart – which was fair enough – but she went about it the wrong way.
“That’s what I had a problem with. I feel like I needed to know before her little speech at the bridge. She should have told me earlier and given me a head’s up. I feel like I deserved that little bit of respect. I didn’t get that. That’s why the row happened.”
Martin also insisted that there’s no hard feelings between then, but that he’s backing other couples to win the show.
He said: “I told her good luck and I wish her and Shaq well. When I left the villa as well I said good luck as I saw she felt so bad. She did what she had to do, she just went about it the wrong way really.”
Martin thinks Will and Jessie could go on to win the show or Kai and Sanam.
