Made In Chelsea’s new recruit says bosses cut ‘heated’ scenes: ‘They played it down’
Made In Chelsea's new recruit David Templer (known as ‘Temps’ by his nearest and dearest) has shared some insight into what goes on behind the scenes.
While the well-loved reality TV show – which has been on our screens for over a decade – is often filled to the brim with drama, apparently even more happens than what’s shown on screen as the scenes have to be edited down.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, David referred to a particular scene on last Monday’s episode where sparks were flying between Paris Smith, Yasmine Zweegers, Willow Day and Ruby Adler on their girls spa evening as Willow and Paris voiced their support for Issy Franics-Baum amid her fallout with Yasmine.
Yasmine's relationship with new beau Guy Connelly was also thrown into question, putting the star on the back foot.
“The spa scene that just happened in episode two was quite a lot more heated [than what was shown] but it’s been played down slightly,” David told us.
“That’s what’s funny: I think people think that it’s orchestrated but I can tell you now, a lot more happens that goes into the edit.”
David has officially made his on-screen debut in the current series, but admitted he found his first cameos “frustrating”.
He explained: “The first few episodes were frustrating for me because I’d be in scenes literally thinking ‘What am I doing here?’ but it was for the audience to get to know who I was.
“I think in the next couple of episodes I will start to get into the storyline a little bit more, and we’re still filming now. It’s very much all kicking off at the moment.”
Like many people who join MIC, David already had a connection to some of the cast members and has been friends with Miles Nazaire and Tristan Phipps for several years.
Apparently Miles was threatening to leave the reality TV show if more of his "actual reality" was shown on-screen.
David told OK! about joining the show and Miles being the reason behind it: “So Made In Chelsea is a reality TV show and part of Miles' reality is that he's best friends with me and we have a friendship off camera, so it only felt right that it was now time [for me to join the show] to show Miles' actual reality."
Speaking about his friendships with Tristan and Miles, he went on: “I actually met Tristan in 2016 and he came on the show a few years after that, and as soon as he started I met Miles straight after. We just got on instantly, so I’ve known Tristan for seven years and Miles for about five or six.”
Miles is undeniably the resident lotherio on MIC at the moment, but David insists that he’s actually a “hopeless romantic” at heart.
“He’s 100% softer than how he seems on the show,” insists David. “He’s a hopeless romantic and wants to fall in love. He loves love.
“The nature of the show sees him dating quite a lot of girls, and I just think he’s quite honest about who he’s dating so it sometimes looks like he’s gone on one date one episode and then breaking up with them on the next.”
David went on to say that we’ll “see a different side” to Miles this series.
Made In Chelsea continues Monday nights at 9pm on E4.
