Manifest will finally return to screens with season four after it was cancelled by NBC in 2021 and then renewed by Netflix. Ben Stone star Josh Dallas hinted the highly anticipated fourth season would come with some major challenges for his character.
After NBC announced they would not be renewing Manifest for a fourth season, Manifest fans took to social media with fury and launched the viral campaign #SaveManifest.
With the support of the show’s creator Jeff Rake, the show was on course to breaking Netlfix’s popularity record after it returned to the streamer’s top 10 list.
There, Manifest remained in the number one spot for 27 days, which proved to be a major success for its fans as Netflix announced it would pick up the drama for season four.
With its eagerly anticipated return, actor Josh Dallas dropped a major tease about his character’s fate, following the cliffhanger ending.
Josh revealed: “Ben’s road ahead is very difficult. We start part one of season four two years after where we left season three.
“So he has had a lot of time to throw anchor in this profound depth of anger and grief, and he’s questioning everything.
“He’s questioning everything about the callings, because as far as he’s concerned, they’ve given him nothing.
“They’ve only taken from him. So he wants nothing to do with them anymore,” he told Hollywood Reporter.
Ben and his son Cal Stone (played by Jack Messina) were among the 191 passengers onboard the Montego Air Flight 828 when it mysteriously disappeared.
Alongside his sister Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) they had boarded the flight from Jamaica to New York, unaware they had gone mission for over five years.
Their arrival was swept in a frenzy from families who had assumed their loved ones were long dead.
The mysterious disappearance also took the passengers by surprise as they had not aged a day, however, the difference was obvious between Cal and his twin sister Olive Stone (Luna Blaise).
As they adjusted to the changing world around them, the passengers began seeing things and experiencing visual premonitions which were deemed callings.
The calling would appear with the clear purpose of doing something or finding someone but it would be a glimpse of a person or a snippet of a conversation.
This would then leave the person experiencing the calling to imperative the puzzle, with varying results.
It had previously led to the tragedy of Harvey Stein’s (Rich Topol) death and also saved lives.
As for the upcoming season four, fans can expect to find out more about Cal’s disappearance.
After touching the plain’s tailpin, the youngster vanished and then appeared in a calling with Ben, Michaela and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur).
When he eventually returned, Cal had dramatically changed and looked the age he should have been, had he not boarded the flight.
In the season three finale, Ben’s wife Grace Stone (Athena Karkanis) was killed at the hands of Angelina (Holly Taylor), which will undoubtedly have repercussions for the passengers.
Manifest season four will premiere on Friday, November 4 on Netflix
