Mike and Esther's big secret is revealed this Christmas in Corrie

Aaron Sandford (James Craven) has always been somewhat unsure of Mike (Tom Lorcan) and Esther (Vanessa Hehir) in Coronation Street.

The couple perceive themselves as perfect. They have a posh home, a lot of money, they have everything they could ever need in life – except for a baby.

Enter: Summer (Harriet Bibby).

During Summer’s pregnancy, Mike and Esther were incredibly over the top and that bothered Aaron. Poor Summer is too nice for other own good, so she happily allowed the couple to smother her with gifts and kindness.

And then the miscarriage happened.

Ultimately, that was the game changer for Summer as she grew desperate to help Aaron and his alcoholic dad, and therefore lied to Mike and Esther about the pregnancy, keeping up the lie for weeks that she’d soon hand over their little bundle of joy.

As a new year begins (it’s 2023 by the time these scenes air in Corrie), Billy’s (Daniel Brocklebank) relationship with Summer remains troubled and he is shocked to discover she’s back with Aaron, who is fully behind her latest surrogacy plan.

Later, at Mike and Esther’s house, Summer answers the door – the bailiffs have arrived.

As they start gathering up Mike and Esther’s things, Summer is horrified and demands to know what’s going on.

Has this couple been hiding a shocking secret?

Later in the week, Todd (Gareth Pierce) takes it upon himself to do some digging, convinced Mike and Esther aren’t the upstanding Christian couple they make themselves out to be…but will he come across anything concerning?
