Netflix fans turn off The Butcher of Delhi as extreme gore leaves them shaken

Netflix's latest true crime documentary, Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi, follows the Butcher of Delhi's gruesome killing spree.

Landing on Netflix this month, the new docu-series takes viewers through to the nerve centre of one of India's most dangerous killers who decapitated and dismembered his victims.

Having left notes mocking investigators alongside the bodies, it was determined the killer craved attention.

With the aid of a police informant network, cops identified the killer as a man named Chandrakant Jha. He is believed to have killed seven victims between 1998 and 2007 in west Delhi.

In 2002 he was arrested but released soon after due to a lack of evidence. When out, he continued his killing spree, choosing his victims after falling out over petty arguments and lies.

Viewers were shocked by the chilling details of the case as it unfolded across the three episodes.

Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the show, one viewer wrote: "Very disturbing especially the last episode which reveals some chilling stories from villagers."

A second wrote: "Just finished watching #TheButcherOfDelhi and my god, it is chilling. To imagine the psychology of such criminal as Chandrakant Jha and how he committed those horrific crimes is beyond. A must watch!"

However not all viewers were fans of the show's graphic depiction of the true-crime story.

One wrote: "I am a sucker for documentary films but #TheButcherOfDelhi has too much gore in it to continue watching. Left midway.

"Enough webseries showing blood and gore for us to now watch it in documentaries too. Enough human stories of pain, suffering and injustices," they concluded.

Another user agreed, adding: "#TheButcherOfDelhi is pretty disturbing and GRAPHIC."

A third user revealed the docu-series might only be suitable for "true crime aficionados".

"A brutal and fascinating watch, but it may only be for true crime docu-series aficionados because of the cruelty on display here," they said.

In February 2013, serial killer Jha was found guilty on three counts of murder and received two death sentences and life imprisonment until death.

Jha is still in jail and his parole privileges were revoked in January 2020.
