Nick Knowles breaks down on DIY SOS and begs cameras to stop filming

Nick Knowles has said that he often down in tears while filming for his hit TV show DIY SOS, and will beg cameras to stop filming.

The 60-year-old television presenter has been at the helm of DIY SOS since 1999, with the dad-of-four hosting DIY SOS: The Big Build from 2010 onwards.

The primetime BBC series sees Nick and his team of local tradesmen, suppliers and the larger community help deserving families.

Often the backstories of the families that the show helps will leave viewers feeling rather emotional and moved – and it seems emotions are part and parcel of the job too.

Speaking to The Sun about being in floods of tears – just like viewers of the series, Nick explained that he often cries while filming but isn't keen on it being shown to the nation.

Revealing that he won't stop himself from crying, Nick lets the tears flow, but urges producers not to air the emotional scenes that see him break down in tears.

"The thing is I make sure I get off camera, and when they edit it together I ask them not to feature me crying," he explained to the paper.

Uncovering the reason behind not wanting his tearful scenes aired, Nick explained that he doesn't want to "become the story".

The DIY SOS legend wants the person he is talking to or the people who have given their time up for free to be at the centre of the story.

He went on to say: "I want them to have their moment".

The hunky TV star previously spoke at an event where he revealed: "I'm terrible at crying.

"Even if I hold it together, I normally stop about 10 minutes down the road and have a little cry in the lay-by."
