Eurovision: Presenters with Hannah Waddingham open the show

The final of the Eurovision Song Contest takes place on Saturday night, May 13, with 26 countries competing in the world’s largest music competition.

As runners-up in last year’s competition, the United Kingdom is hosting in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine.

Across two semi-finals on Tuesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 11, 31 countries performed to secure a place in the grand final.

A public vote during each show determined who would have the chance to perform again, with Croatia, Czechia, Finland, Israel, Moldova, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland qualifying in the first semi-final.

The qualifiers from the second semi-final were Albania, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovenia.

They will also be joined by the Big Five – France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK – and reigning champions Ukraine.

The Big Five countries automatically qualify as they contribute the most to the European Broadcasting Union.

The 26 countries will battle in the celebration of Europe’s best artists in the live final at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.

The show will be hosted by Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon, and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

Sweden is the favourite to win Eurovision, with former winner Loreen’s song Tattoo having Betfair odds of 4/9.

This is followed by Finland at 5/2, Ukraine at 12/1 and Norway at 14/1. The UK’s entry I Wrote a Song’ by Mae Muller has odds of 66/1.
