Race Across the World fans fume as contestants make huge ‘mistake’ in finale
Race Across the World: Cathy and Trisha make ferry decision
During the finale, viewers saw Tricia and Cathie, Mobeen and Zainib and Ladi and Monique all try to race to St John’s which they had to get to via a ferry.
In the lead, Tricia and Cathie arrived at the port first with the option of picking from two ferries which would take them to Newfoundland.
Getting them closest to the finish line would be the Argentia ferry, which would take a total of 17 hours and cost them £72.67 per person.
With it not setting sail until the following afternoon, the two women decided to pick the alternative ferry which departed that evening.
Taking them to Port Aux Basques in eight hours, the option was cheaper at only £27.36 per person, although it put them 900 kilometres away from St. John’s
It wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to show their outrage at the duo as they feared their decision had blown them out of the competition.
Jennc_xx said: “Can understand their logic and why they wanted that but I think that COULD potentially cost them the race…but who knows.”
AntMelia94 added: “I don’t think this is the right decision, I’m nervy for our mothers.”
Tomjamesclark commented: “Scared that was a bad mistake for Tricia & Cathie.”

Chrisb99_uk added: “Think they’ve blown it.”
Once they arrived at their destination, they managed to get a ride from the ferry port to Bishop Falls, although they struggled to find transport to St John’s.
However, it looks as though their risk paid off as the two women were the first to reach the last checkpoint in Cape Spear.
Once they found out they had taken the championship, they were moved to tears as Tricia dropped to the floor.
She later said: “It is just crazy madness, amazing. Just absolutely amazing.
“We’ve raced across the whole of Canada with a s**-all budget. Eating cream cheese and crackers, getting lost in Stanley Park and we’ve come first. How b****y amazing is this?”
