EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis has confirmed that she will be leaving the BBC soap after two years on Albert Square.

Rose joined the cast as Frankie Lewis back in 2020 and has since gone on to win BBC's Strictly Come Dancing with dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

She said: "“It’s been incredibly special to be EastEnders’ first regular deaf actor. I have loved my time on the show and Frankie has been such an awesome character to play, however now feels like the right time for me to move on and I am excited and ready for new challenges."

Rose continued: "I will always treasure my time on the show and all the incredible people I have worked with, who have supported my growth as an actor these last two years and given me so many amazing memories. I am excited for viewers to see Frankie’s exit storyline; I think it’s a really important one that will hit home for lots of people.”

EastEnders' executive producer Chris Clenshaw also spoke on her departure and said that it was "a pleasure" to work with the young star and that she has been "an incredible asset to the show".

He explained: "As part of the Carter family, Rose has shone in important narratives such as discovering she’s Mick Carter’s daughter as a result of child abuse and she will soon tackle the important issue highlighting women’s safety on the streets. We at EastEnders are incredibly proud of everything Rose has achieved – she’s a real trailblazer, and we wish her every success.”

Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter and Frankie's father, is also planning to leave the show as the year draws to a close.

Fans have speculated as to whether the father-daughter duo will leave Albert Square for good together.

Rose has recently partnered with Mattel for a new Barbie campaign, which includes a doll with a hearing aid feature.

The other dolls in the line include one with vitiligo, a prosthetic leg and a wheelchair.

Rose, who has been deaf since birth, revealed that she used to draw hearing aids on her Barbie dolls when she was growing up.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
