Sad story confirmed for Valerie in Doctors as she experiences health concerns?
As Letherbridge’s foremost highly superstitious, cat-loving, eccentric but ultimately warm-hearted receptionist, Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) has long been one of Doctors’ most popular characters.
But as long-term viewers will know Valerie has had her troubles in the past, including, at one stage, a struggle with cancer. With Valerie clearly suffering with medical issues this week too, could it be that her life might be in danger once again?
It is Valerie’s colleague, Karen Hollins (Jan Pearson) who spots the problem first. After noticing how often her fellow receptionist is shifting uncomfortably in her seat, Karen suggests Valerie go and see Daniel (Matthew Chambers) for an urgent consultation.
Daniel had been planning to pick up Joe from school, but as it’s an emergency, he agrees to see Valerie at short notice.
Valerie suspects she has a Urinary Tract Infection, but Daniel wants to make absolutely sure before jumping to any conclusions.
Valerie complains that she finds the pot supplied for her to provide her urine sample awkward to use. She needs to use two pots and splashes her dress in the process.
In the end, however, Daniel confirms what Valerie already suspected: she has a UTI: a very common occurrence in women of Valerie’s age.
Valerie breathes a sigh of relief, grateful to both Daniel and Karen for their help.
