Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli ‘already know’ BGT winner
Bruno Tonioli talks BGT at the Together for Short Lives Ball
Britain’s Got Talent begins on Saturday evening with Bruno Tonioli taking over as judge from David Walliams. Bruno has been friends with head judge Simon Cowell for years and the pair already have a hunch about who will be crowned this year’s winner. The new judge also shared there are some heartbreaking moments from the new series.
Speaking to Radio Times, Bruno dished: “I can’t give away too much, but there is some stuff that will break your heart.
“And some very, very funny comedians – I was surprised.”
He went on to tease: “Simon and I already think we know who’s going to win, but the competition is stiff.”
Bruno admitted he often got “far too excited” and pressed the Golden Buzzer more than he was supposed to.
The judge added he had “to be restrained” and fellow judge Alesha Dixon gradually “moved further and further away”.
Despite being friends with Simon for years, Britain’s Got Talent marks the first time the pair have worked together.
Bruno described it as “such fun” and is hoping they can find someone entertaining to perform at the Royal Variety Show.
Teasing more about who ITV viewers could see in the final and win, Bruno confessed: “To be honest it’s wide open.
“But my instinct is saying that it’s going to be a singer. We’ve seen a few singers that are brilliant, a few dance groups that are absolutely stunning.
“In each category there’s some strong acts. When it comes to the public, it always comes down to who captures not just their imagination, but makes an emotional connection.
“I think ultimately it’s the people that will connect the most. I love that we have no say in who wins, it’s all down to the public.”
Bruno went on to admit viewers may see a different side to him from what they have seen on Strictly Come Dancing.

“Well, what we see is a complete range of entertainment, singing, dancing, comedians, magicians, acrobats, you name it,” he detailed.
“So you can draw from your experience in the industry, which fortunately I have plenty of, because I’ve done everything!
“I work with the best in everything – best singers, best actors, best comedians, I choreograph big numbers. So, I know what I’m talking about. And, I found, that range is exciting because it’s not fixed to a certain area, this is more than just dancing.
‘So I guess, in a way, people will see more of who I am because I can show more of what I’ve done in my life. I found that very exciting.”
Britain’s Got Talent begins Saturday on ITV at 8pm.
