Stacey Solomons awkward blunders – sheer leggings, granny pants and sister swap

She is known for her impressive Tap to Tidy transformations and her beautifully decorated and perfectly organised home in the heart of Essex with her husband Joe Swash.

Back in 2009, Stacey Solomon blew the X Factor judges away with her impressive vocal range as she went on to finish third place on the hugely popular ITV talent competition.

And it’s fair to say the mum-of-four has come a long way since then after branching out into a hugely successful TV career both as a presenter and a contestant.

But arguably one of her fan's favourite things about the Loose Women panellist is her brutal honesty, as the starlet regularly updates her loyal legion of fans on her bustling family life online.

As the TV personality prepares to celebrate her 33rd birthday with a bang, Daily Star have taken a look inside some of her most embarrassing moments.

See-through leggings

Arguably one of Stacey’s most embarrassing moments over the past 12 months was when the mum-of-four went about her day wearing see-through leggings.

Earlier this summer, the TV personality shared her wardrobe mishap with her loyal legion of fans as her husband filmed the hilarious moment and laughed at her dismay.

She confessed that the fashion blunder occurred with the new parents hastily dressed herself for the school run “in the dark”, which left her blissfully unaware of how visible her underwear was through her leggings.

It took a kind shopper in Costco to tell Stacey that her floral knickers were on full display while she was finishing her purchase that evening.

Taking to Instagram Story, the loving mum shared her shameful interaction with her 5.4 million followers online.

Alongside a snap of the TV star looking disgruntled in the see-though garment, she penned: “I’m actually fuming…Joe let me walk around in them all day without even letting me know.

“We got dressed in the dark before the school run and I didn’t even think of looking in the mirror. Joe thinks it’s hilarious.

“Apparently, he thought it was a look and then just ‘forgot’ to say anything because we were in a rush.”

She later shared a video of her husband as he struggled to hold back his laughter while showing off the extent of her fashion faux pas with her followers on social media.

In the video – where Stacey can be seen holding baby Rose – viewers can hear Joe chuckling in the background as he reminded the Loose Women star that she is “old enough to dress herself”.

He said: “You should pay more attention to what you were wearing… I mean listen, you are old enough to dress yourself!”

Wet granny knickers

Over the summer months, the Sort Your Life Put presenter installed a lavish swimming pool in their sprawling back garden, but the instillation process took a number of months to complete.

After the pool was complete, the loving mum made sure to get her money’s worth as she was often spotted out in the pool with her children whenever the weather would allow.

Due to their frequent pool trips, the family-of-four quickly ran out of swimming costumes faster than the TV star could wash them.

It was at this point that Stacey resorted to simply wearing old underwear in the pool with her children when no one was around.

But the Tap to Tidy star soon found herself caught short after she accidentally answered the door to one of her workmen while wearing a pair of grey floral “granny knickers”.

As if that wasn’t an eyeful enough for her surprising builder and to add to her embarrassment, Stacey went on to confess that her underwear was soaking wet from the pool meaning that her old knickers were “transparent in places”.

After recovering from the awkward moment, the former X Factor star shared the cringeworthy moment on her social media.

Alongside a snap of her pink high-waisted briefs, Stacey explained: “Didn’t bring my bikini or towels out, brought all the kids' stuff over.

“This is why I need to sort out that space by the filter. I need to stock all the towels and stuff so I'm always prepared.

“Just had to open the door to the man who came to fix out insinorator in the greyest, saggiest, granny underwear ever.

“Pretty sure the fact that they’re soaking wet made them transparent in places. Just living my best Bridget Jones life.”

Awkward wedding proposal

Luckily, her sweet husband loves her for all her hilarious blunders and even has a fair share of his own as he opened up about his “awkward” marriage proposal to the Queen of the Jungle in 2020.

During an appearance on the ITV comedy panel show, Celebrity Juice, the doting dad-of-three admitted that his wife mistook his grand floral display as a mournful funeral display.

The former EastEnders star revealed he popped the question on Christmas Eve out in the woods at the back of their house.

For the big proposal, he decided to shower the clearing in beautiful white flowers in keeping with the theme he had planned.

He said: “The proposal was a bit awkward as well. I thought it would be really nice. I thought I'd do it on Christmas Eve and I took her into the forest and I got a lady to put loads of flowers out.

However, the Loose Women star was convinced that the pair shouldn’t disturb the display as she insisted that the floral display was marking a recently buried relative.

The TV personality added: “When I took her through to the forest, she’d seen the flowers and went, ‘Aww, I think someone’s died over there’ because it was all white flowers.

Luckily, Joe was able to convince her to walk over to the clearing, as he urged: “I went to her, ‘Oh come, let’s have a look and pay some respects’.”

Lookalike sister confusion

And it appears as though embarrassing blunders run in the family, after Stacey’s brother-in-law managed to mistake his wife for his younger sister Jemma.

Songstress Stacey and her sister Jemma look and sound so much alike that people often get the two mixed up – including Jemma’s own husband, Lee.

The sisterly duo – who are only a year apart in age – have always been close, with the blonde bombshell even being there for her sister when she first met her future husband on a night out.

During an appearance on Loose Women, the business woman explained how she vetted her husband through the embarrassing moment.

She told viewers: “There’s a really funny time that, when I met my now husband, we basically met in a nightclub so when he asked to take me out I said, ‘You’re never going to remember who I am or what I look like!’

“He said, ‘I will’, so he turned up at my house and I said to Stacey, ‘Can you go get in the car with him please, because he thinks he knows what I look like’.”

The brunette beauty went on to explain how she planned to catch out Lee by sending in her lookalike sister who he quickly mistook.

Jemma added: “She was like, ‘No’ and I was like, ‘Please, he wants to take me out’. So she got in the car and he drove off with her!”

As the panel broke down in laughter, they asked Stacey what she had some when Lee drove off with her in the car instead of her sister.

Stacey admitted: “Well, I just had to say, ‘Um, no actually I’m not Jemma, sorry, can you drive me back home?’.”
