Strictly fans predict Shirley Ballas’ favourite after flirty exchange on launch show

Strictly Come Dancingwas back with an exciting launch show that saw this year’s contestants get paired with their professional partners.

During the show, eagle eyed viewers spotted a rather flirtatious exchange with judge Shirley Ballas and one of this year’s contestants.

Radio DJ Tyler West, who was partnered with Dianne Buswell during the launch episode, had a rather cheeky exchange with Shirley.

As host Tess Daly said “there’s one judge you are particularly fond of”, Tyler gushed: “You alright Shirl?”. He added: “Honestly, I am in awe. I have so much respect for all of you,” while Shirley giggled in response.

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the pair’s comments: “Tyler knows how to get his 10's early, make Shirley gush…….that's his 10s banked for the whole season. #strictly”.

Another added: “That’s Shirley’s favourite chosen already #Strictly”.

One said: “Tyler’s just booked himself over marking from Shirley for the entire series.”. While another viewer penned: “Tyler getting ahead with Shirley… she's probably got her 10 paddle ready.”

A viewer commented on his partnership and what it could mean: “Tyler getting in with Shirley early on. Which is smart. And he gets Diane! Hopefully he’s a ringer for her.”

“Annnnnnnd Shirley has her favourite,” said another. One added: “So Tyler is flirting his way to his first ten from Shirley”.

When he wasannounced to go on the show, Tyler said: “I am SO gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp. It’s going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone.

“It’s a show that means so much to me and my family and I can’t wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a side of sequins.”

He's best known for hosting the KISS FM weekday afternoon show, and was nominated for a prestigious ARIA for Best New Presenter in 2020.

As well as being a radio host, Tyler launched his first BBC Three series last year where he co-hosted Flat out Fabulous, in addition to becoming the host of The MTV Movie Show.

His KISS FM co-hostJordan Banjo backed Tylerto “smash” this year’s series as he spoke to OK!.

He told us: “I’ve always said this about Tyler, he’s always had rhythm, always been able to move. I’m confident that he’s going to absolutely smash it."

“He’s one of the sweetest guys you’ll ever meet," Jordan gushed. "For someone who is a 6ft 3in ripped-to-shreds good-looking dude with all the chat in the world, you’d think he has every reason to not be one of the nicest people you will ever meet. But he is. I’m really hoping he goes all the way.”
