Strictly star reveal there's a group WhatsApp chat to share 'wobbles'

Strictly Come Dancing star Will Mellor has revealed the celebrity contestants swap tips and share ‘wobbles’ in a group WhatsApp chat.

There are 15 celebrities vying to impress judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas and aiming for a perfect 10 in the 2022 edition of the juggernaut series.

Among them are Fleur East, Helen Skelton, Ellie Simmonds, Tyler West and Matt Goss, and everyone has been getting along like a horse on fire, according to Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crips star Will.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the 46-year-old actor said the celebs all set up a WhatsApp group prior to the first show and rehearsals.

He explained: ‘We have a WhatsApp group we started before we even started just to sort of gel together a little bit; the production said it was a good idea to do.

‘It has helped a lot of people, especially if you have a wobble, everyone has a little wobble. Someone might say, “Oh, I’m really finding it tough this week. The routine is really hard and I’m aching.”

‘And we’re all sending pictures of ourselves soaking our feet, or with ice on our knees and it helps you take the load off when you know other people are going through the same thing. It helps that we help each other out.

Will continued: ‘We are all in this together and even though obviously is a competition, we’re not in competition with each other. The group is really there to support each other and we’ve got a great little bond going.

‘We’ve all been thrown into the deep end and we’ve all got the same goal.’

Despite wowing the judges with Jive, alongside partner Nancy Xu, and soaring straight to the top of the leaderboard, Will said he was ‘in constant pain.’

He joked: ‘It’s like being tortured from the feet up, I’ll tell you. My body’s not used to this. And also I’m not a young man anymore so I don’t bounce like I used to. You know when you’re a kid and you fall over and you just get straight up, now I just stay down.

‘And I’ve got old injuries from football injuries, so my knees are not very good and I’ve had operations; it’s just wear and tear. I really have to look after my body.

‘We can only train as much as we can because if you overdo it, you could injure yourself, and then I won’t be able to make the show. It is hard. It really is.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
