Successions Sarah Snook hints at explosive Tom and Shiv scene
Succession: Brian Cox on change to Logan’s backstory
HBO’s hit comedy-drama Succession premiered on Sunday and saw the return of the complex Roy family. With the family officially at war, Shiv’s Sarah Snook detailed the gut-wrenching scene with Tom Wambsgans (played by Matthew Macfadyen) and hinted at an explosive episode.
On Sunday, millions of fans across the world switched to HBO to tune into the highly anticipated season four premiere of Succession.
Following the shocking season three finale, the episode opened up with the Roy family embroiled in a bidding war for Waystar Royco.
This came after Tom betrayed his wife Shiv (Sarah Snook) and informed her father Logan Roy (Brian Cox) of their plans.
As a result of their shocking split, Shiv briefly returned to their apartment to pick up some clothes, but finds him there and provokes rumours of his sexual encounters.
She asks: “I hear you, date models, now. Did you get buff for the models, Tom? Do you bring them back here and do the positions? Do you do all the positions with your models, Tom?”
Although Tom offered to unpack their marital issues, she refuses and insists it’s time to end their relationship.
As they lay on the bed holding hands, Shiv admitted: “We gave it a go.”
While fans anticipated a brutal break-up, this gut-wrenching scene was unexpected for many, but after a major tease, tensions could soon rise between Tom and Shiv.

Speaking on Shiv’s future, Sarah told TV Line: “For Shiv, there seems to be, ‘I have a set of rules and you don’t have the same rules as I do, and I’m allowed to go see people if I want’.
“As they discussed, they’re allowed to check out their options with this trial separation, but when it’s so obviously thrown back in her face, I think that hurts her pride.”
The actress teased: “There’s a lot of great stuff coming up with Shiv and Tom.
“It was really fun this season because Matthew and I got to explore different aspects of the relationship between them.

“There’s a great argument that happens. It was really fun to yell at Matthew and have him yell at me.”
Sarah added: “It’s quite a thing to have someone who’s so lovely yell at you!”
Throughout the series, fans have seen the cutthroat battle between media mogul Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his three younger children unfold.
Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv and Roman (Kieran Culkin) fought against one another for control of the billion-dollar company after Logan fell ill.
However, after gaining insight from Tom, Logan quickly cut them out of the business.
As fans watch the series unfold, many were disappointed to learn season four would be the final instalment of the show.
Showrunner Jesse Armstrong stated: “I had the last scene pretty early. We talked about how the show would end a lot, and I never wavered from that.
“I wavered on what were the best lines, the best way to express it — but that ending from the first draft is the one you’ll see when the episode comes out,” he added to Variety.
Succession season 4 continues Sundays on HBO in the USA and the following Monday on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
