The Apprentice announces 2023 return for new series with Claude Littner comeback

The Apprentice is back next year for a new seventeenth series, it has been confirmed.

The upcoming series is set to be bigger and better than ever, with an extended number of candidates that will participate in tasks overseas, as well as in the UK.

Sir Alan Sugar is returning, along with his trusted advisors Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell MBE, along with Claude Littner, who will appear in two episodes.

For the first time since series 13, the show will return to its format of having 18 new candidates, who will compete to win a £250,000 investment in their individual businesses.

The candidates will be hit with a heavy task from day one, as they will begin the competition in the exotic location of Antigua, where they must create and sell excursions to tourists.

Candidates will face a succession of equally tough challenges as the series progresses, in a bid to impress Lord Sugar.

Tasks will include creating their own cartoons, delving in the male beauty industry, as well as immersive events, and dabbling in street food, with even higher stakes than before, as they battle it out to become Lord Sugar’s next business partner.

BBC Two's The Apprentice: You’re Fired, also returns along with the new series, as comedian Tom Allen steps back in the role of host, and the show will air each week on BBC Two, right after the main show, as the contestants are discussed.

Fans can share their reactions to all the ups and downs of the new series of The Apprentice on social media, via the programme's official Instagram (@apprenticeuk), Twitter (@bbcapprentice), and Facebook page (facebook.com/BBCApprentice).

There will also be a Facebook group fans can join and connect with each other, as they recap the week’s challenge, and candidates’ good (and bad) decisions.

Series 16 of The Apprentice aired between January-March of this year, and the series saw a record viewership for the launch episode at 8.9 million — the highest viewings since the series’ 2017 final.

Throughout its run, the series averaged 2.1 million, achieving one of the highest title ratings on BBC this year.

Last series saw contestant Harpreet Kaur be named winner, as she secured a life-changing business partnership with Lord Sugar for her bakery business.

The dessert parlour owner, 30, told OK! following her win on the show: “Everything on The Apprentice is filmed as you see it, there’s no acting, there’s nothing.

“It’s been a long wait…but it’s been amazing to have that closure and think, ‘Ok, so I did win!’”
