The latest season of The Bachelor finally revealed Zach Shallcross’ ultimate decision as he was tasked with picking Kaitlyn ‘Kaity’ Biggar or Gabriella ‘Gabi’ Elnicki to be his new bride. Although millions tuned in to see the epic conclusion of season 27 on ABC, fans weren’t happy to be put through a staggering three hours before Zach made up his mind.
ABC viewers have slammed this season of The Bachelor for concluding with a marathon three-hour finale which suffered from a huge technical blunder.
While most episodes of the reality phenomenon run for just an hour, past finales have often exceeded the two-hour mark.
However, Monday night’s conclusion to season 27 tested fans’ patience with a gargantuan episode which surpassed the length of most feature films.
Zach ultimately decided to propose to Kaity, despite breaking his no-sex rule with Gabi in the Fantasy Suite, but were the twists and turns enough to keep viewers engaged?
During the episode, Ashley Cowan tweeted: “Having a hard time staying awake for this finale.
“The likelihood of me watching #TheBachelorette live with that new later time is not looking great!”
@_acnhmochi said: “No one told me The Bachelor finale is three hours, oh my God I don’t think I can stay awake.”
@assenavmarie fumed: “This finale is making me fall asleep WHY is it three hours long?”
“This finale is soo boring this did not need to be three hours, I’m gonna fall asleep,” @bachelorrrrrr added.
@soulofvanessa joked: “Three hours sounds excessive. They can’t be doing anything THAT interesting. #TheBachelor.”
And @BachelorBob_ wrote: “Excuse me….. The finale is THREE (3) hours???? I was not mentally prepared for this!!!!!”
The so-called ‘boring Bachelor’ ended his time on the show by proposing to Kaity on a beach in Thailand.

Kaity was clearly thrilled and yelled “We’re engaged!” as she held up a sparkling engagement ring, designed by Neil Lane.
However, he first had to apologise to the contestants about breaking his no-sex vow in the Fantasy Suite, including third place runner-up Ariel Frenkel.
“I’m really hurt,” she said. “It really hurts to find everything out on TV, when everyone else does, with a partner that you have shared so many intimate moments with.
“I was really disappointed in the way the whole week was handled. I was disappointed in the way that I was left completely not knowing anything from Zach.”
Fans have also criticised the show for airing several minutes of radio silence during a date with Zach and Gabi.
The potential couple set out to enjoy a day of horseback riding, but the show’s sound immediately cut out at the start of the date.
Some viewers may have taken the opportunity to take a break from the lengthy episode, though most were simply frustrated they couldn’t hear Zach and Gabi’s intimate conversation.
The Bachelor airs on ABC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
