The Traitors Meryl appearance on Blankety Blank with Bradley Walsh resurfaces

Meryl Williams appeared on Blankety Blank months before winning BBC One's hit programme The Traitors.

In a resurfaced video from September 2022, Meryl could be seen on the panel alongside celebrities Ellie Simmonds, Denise Van Outen, Chris Eubank, Frank Skinner, Vick Hope and Joey Essex.

But host Bradley Walsh got visibly agitated as Chris appeared to get confused over the rules of the game – which sees contestants attempting to fill in the missing words of statement and phrases with the help of celebrities.

"My wife calls me puppy dog because whenever I get excited I…." Bradley, who recently enjoyed a beach day during a luxury holiday with his wife, said in the video.

Meryl then appeared on screen, flipping her board to reveal she wrote the word "smile". She told the presenter: "I wrote smile, but it doesn't even make sense."

"You only need one to win," Bradley replied before turning to Denise, who said: "You pant," which turned out to be the wrong answer as well.

Ellie then turned her board around to reveal her word was "jump", before Bradley continued to go around to panel to get more answers, which included "urinate" and "show her affection on her leg".

Bradley then got frustrated with the contestants after Chris asked if there was an "official answer".

"Let me explain something, my wife – who is actually my wife – never calls me puppy dog, ever. This that I just read out, is made up, for the show called Blankety Blank."

He then said: "I'm off," as he jokingly walked off the set.

Fans were left in shock at seeing Meryl on Blankety Blank after finding fame on The Traitors and flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts as one person wrote: "Looking for the Spurs game on bbc and fallen into the rabbit hole that is iplayer… watching Blankety Blank and there’s Meryl from The Traitors. Must have a good agent."

"I was trying to think where I had seen Meryl before. She was on series 2, episode 1 of Blankety Blank presented by Bradley Walsh," another said.

While another complained: "I was watching an old episode of Blankety Blank earlier and there was Meryl from #TheTraitors. I don't have anything against her, but I do find it a bit annoying when the same people pop up on everything. They must have thousands of people applying."

"Faithfuls" Aaron, Meryl and Hannah were crowned the winners with "Traitors" Wilfred and Kieran banished at the end of the BBC show, which aired in December 2022.

Upon learning the winning news, the trio started screaming: "We've done it!" as they realised they had won and would be getting the huge cash prize.
