The Traitors star Maddy Smedley calls for return to EastEnders

We fell in love with her during her time on BBC One’s The Traitors and now, Maddy Smedley is up for something we are totally here for – returning to EastEnders.

The actress appeared briefly in 2021 during the storyline that saw Bailey Baker (Kara-Leah Fernandes) run away from home.

During The Traitors, the reality TV contestant had told her fellow housemates, who were all living in a lavish Scottish Highlands castle, that she worked full-time in a care home, and declined to disclose her other job.

Maddy explained: ‘I didn’t want you to think I was dodgy if I came in here and said I was an actor. I’ve played it as myself.’

Maddy portrayed the role of a homeless character called Rita and once social media fans discovered her amazing credit, she turned into quite the icon.

As well as previously having a part in an episode of BBC One’s Casualty, Maddy is now keen to build up her platform and hopes to step back into Albert Square again.

‘I’d love to be in EastEnders again, I loved working with them’, she told The Sun.

‘It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I grew up watching the show’.

Maybe she will return as Rita, or another character entirely?

The Traitor’s finale saw Hannah, Meryl and Aaron win the jackpot after working out that Wilf was a Traitor.
