AMC’s award-winning post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead is fast approaching its last-ever season finale. With viewers eager to find out the fate of their favourite characters, showrunner Angela Kang revealed there would be “tears”.
The Walking Dead has been airing since 2010 and throughout its run, it has become a highly acclaimed show with fans across the world.
Many of its viewers were fans of the original comics created by Robert Kirkman which inspired the TV adaption.
Throughout the years, its audience has been forced to say shocking goodbyes to their favourite characters, many of whom were killed off after being bitten by the deadly Walkers.
With the season 11 finale set to take place in November, its showrunner Angela Kang spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk.

She teased what fans could expect from the highly anticipated, yet dreaded finale.
Angela shared it would include: “Big twists and turns, action and adventure like you want to have in a Walking Dead episode.
“But also lots of emotion and there’s going to be tears, but hopefully those things you love about the show, we’ll deliver on those things, that’s our hope.”
Fans of the comic books also questioned whether the TV show would depict the same conclusion as the graphic novels
To which, Angela teased: “Some of it correlates with the comics and some of it really diverges, it’s definitely true to some of the spirit of the comics.
“We had to interpret it in a different way since the show has taken so many different turns away from what the comics were.”
Although some episodes had diverted from the comics, she explained Robert also has a major say in what has to be included in the onscreen adaptation.
Angela revealed: “One thing that was important to him, for example, was Negan [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] killing Alpha [Samantha Morton].
“He was like ‘I think that moment, however you get there, get there how you want but that moment is important.’”
Angela added: “I was like ‘Yep, gotcha, hear you’ because he’s a producer on the show and we respect his work.”
Although the television series won awards and inspired multiple spin-offs, the comics sparked its first fans before it met its abrupt ending in 2019.
Even though this came as a shock to fans, many have referred back to its final instalment to see if it could take place in the show.
Issue 193 began with a 25-year time jump since Rick Grimes was killed by Sebastian Milton, with an adult Carla and Sophia married.
Alongside their child, Andrea they were living a quiet life on a farm when they spotted a lone Walker which they killed.
While there is more from the instalment, the series will undoubtedly stray from this depiction as Sebastian (Teo Rapp-Olsson) was killed in the episode, A New Deal.
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) however, is yet to make his eagerly awaited appearance after he was mysteriously airlifted away in season nine.
The Walking Dead season 11 continues Sundays on AMC in the USA and the following Monday on Disney+ in the UK.
