Fans of AMC’s hit post-apocalyptic franchise are still recovering from this year’s jaw-dropping finale, which brought the flagship The Walking Dead series to its epic conclusion. Thankfully, they still have plenty of spin-offs to look forward to, including a series featuring Daryl Dixon star Norman Reedus, whose career has continued to skyrocket.
Long-running TWD cast member Norman will join Ana De Armas in Ballerina, the first spin-off to the popular John Wick series.
Underworld and Total Recall director Len Wiseman will helm the feature film, which will expand on the ballerina-assassins introduced in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
Norman will join the previously announced cast comprising Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick reprising their roles from previous films.
Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno has also been cast in an undisclosed role, and Keanu’s iconic hitman is also expected to cameo.
Producer Erica Lee has told Deadline: “We’re huge fans of Norman.
“We’re confident that the fans will be just as excited as we are that he’s joining the Wick universe. He’ll make an incredible addition to Ballerina.”
John Wick 3 writer Shay Hatten has co-written the script with Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell.
Producers also include Basil Iwanyk and John Wick director Chad Stahelski, as well as Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa for Lionsgate.
The Walking Dead star is best known for starring as Daryl in a staggering 174 episodes of the zombie series, most recently in the 11th and final season.
He’ll soon be taking on his own series set within the show’s post-apocalyptic wasteland, which was originally planned to feature his co-star Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier.
His other film credits also include American Gangster, The Conspirator, Triple 9 and The Boondock Saints.
Norman is also currently filming The Bikeriders, a film about a fictional motorcycle club in the 1960s directed by Take Shelter and Loving filmmaker Jeff Nichols.
