Tom stunned as Belle confesses to a killing in Emmerdale
Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) ill-timed desire for an open and honest relationship could ruin her fledgling romance with Tom King (Mark Flanagan).
It’s all incredibly sweet that Belle and Tom have found each other again, but a lot has happened in 10 years and sensitive Tom isn’t ready to hear it.
He’s freaking out at any mention of his dead dad and then he learns he was a killer to boot, so how is Tom going to react when Belle reveals she is one too? Not well, let us tell you, not well.
Belle works hard to get Tom and Jimmy (Nick Miles) to patch up their relationship, but things go awry when Jimmy accidentally reveals what Tom is not ready to hear – that his dad Carl bumped off his granddad.
It’s too much for Tom, who’s struggled with other sordid details from his dad’s past – like the attempted rape of Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) – and he does a bunk from his catch up with his uncle. Belle is left picking up the pieces.
Belle is a bit perturbed by this as she’d planned to reveal her truth to Tom too in the hope of having a relationship with no skeletons in the closet, so to speak. She’s now worried how badly he’ll react if she tells him what she did. But she resolves that he needs to know her past to understand it, so she goes ahead and confesses to accidentally killing Gemma.
As expected, Tom does not take it at all well, and legs it out of their rendezvous. Belle’s worried she’s ruined their relationship, and she may well be right.
In the Woolpack, a wound-up Tom isn’t ready to see his uncle, but Jimmy approaches him anyway determined to defend Carl.
Tom gives him what for and things escalate as the men square up. Is Tom heading for a dark and violent path like his dad?
