Netflix’s latest instalment of dating series Too Hot to Handle will be hitting screens in a matter of weeks. This time around the 10-part series will be split in half with the first five episodes premiering on December 7. Fans will then have to wait a week before the remaining episodes are going to be coming on December 14.

Is Too Hot to Handle scripted?

Over the years many viewers have been curious to know how much of Too Hot to Handle really is just a reality series and how much is scripted.

The show sees 10 singletons duped into appearing on the show with the promise of going on a raucous reality series, only to find out they’re actually on Too Hot to Handle.

The lusty and attractive young romantic hopefuls will then be put through their paces by abstaining from sexual relations and sexual gratification of any kind for the chance to win a big cash prize.

Season four will be no different with another bevy of singles finding themselves in the Caribbean villa after believing they were taking part in a show called Wild Love with American TV presenter and Saved By The Bell star Mario Lopez.

Speaking about the show, narrator Desiree said: “Well, obviously I’m a voice actor, so my stuff is scripted for sure. I don’t have very much say although I will add in bits as we go.”

She went on to say: “It depends what you consider scripted. Like there isn’t a script that they come in with.”

The American star said with all shows, they were either “written by the script” or “sometimes it’s written by editing”.

In the case of Too Hot to Handle, Desiree said it was the latter: “It’s very much once they’ve done whatever, Netflix is looking at what’s the story that’s emerging here. That’s the footage that you’re going to get.”

Desiree continued: “What I understand of the process, they’re never like, ‘Go over to that person and go do that thing.’ It’s more like, ‘This is what’s happening, so we’re going to focus in on that.’ Then there’s the story of what actually emerges.”

The narrator worked on the show earlier this year and said it was either shot in 2021 or early 2022 over a couple of weeks.

Sadly, Desiree didn’t get to go out to the exotic location for a sun-soaked holiday and was yet to meet host Mario.

Teasing what fans could expect from the forthcoming series, she said: “You definitely know what you’re getting but obviously with Too Hot to Handle they always find a way to do a bit of oneupmanship on the previous series.”

On who viewers should keep their eye on, Desiree said: “Oh my goodness, there’s so many. I really enjoyed this season.

“I felt like that people were nice. I would say keep an eye out on Seb, who is a Scottish racing driver. He is very fun to watch. Jawahir as well.

“I kind of cling to the people who are funny and every time she’s on, she’s just delightful, respected, hilarious.”

She said Nigel was another contestant who “jumps off the page” and was the “hottest man who’s ever been called Nigel” and was doing “a lot of hard work for a lot of Nigels in the world”. Desiree added: “Kayla as well is quite an interesting person.”

Along with Too Hot to Handle, Desiree is now busy with several other projects including Channel 4’s The Horne Section, a series from the mind of Taskmaster creator Alex Horne.

In the show Desiree plays the fictional Thora, the eponymous band’s producer which she described as a “chunky role”.

She is also going to be taking on the lead in a Sky short film called Diane From Accounts, which will be coming in early 2023.

Desiree plays the title Diane, who works for charity when she makes a shocking discovery in the trust’s finances, which sends on a Breaking Bad-esque journey.

She is also continuing with stand-up and panel show appearances with Desiree having plenty in the pipeline.
