Weatherman ecstatic after realising his map is touchscreen mid broadcast

A weatherman has gone viral after becoming ecstatic mid-broadcast when he realised his map was being displayed on a touch screen.

ABC 7 Chicago weatherman and meteorologist Greg Dutra couldn't contain his excitement when he accidentally brushed against the screen and made it move during the weather forecast on Thursday (August 4).

In the clip, Dutra, who has worked for the station since September 2019, became visibly happier, shouting: “I can do that? No way!”

He turned to his colleagues, who were off-screen, and they were all shocked that had never realised it before.

Co-host Val Warner asked: "Are you serious? Did you just discover that?”

Another co-host, Terrell Brown, then pops into frame saying that he "has to try it" and begins to move the screen by touching it, as the pair grins ear to ear.

Dutra then learns not only can he move the map but he can actually zoom in and tilt it too, making it a "great day" for him.

The weatherman has since shared the video on Twitter, laughing at himself as he writes: "This wasn’t in the training manual! @TBrownABC7 @valwarnertv and I go OFF THE RAILS when I discovered the TV is a touch screen while on-air."

Viewers have since described the video as “wholesome” and “hilarious” has been viewed over 680,000 times.

A third said: "Haha this is the most Chicago thing ever!"

Dutra has been grateful to his fans for the attention they have brought to him as he followed up the post with another tweet, that said: "Well this blew up. I’ve got nothing to sell or plug except be nice to those around you. Everyone’s going through something."
