Who is Tim Key?

Tim Key was born on September 10, 1976 in Cambridgeshire.

After studying in Russian in university, Key got the comedy bug and started taking it more seriously, looking to pursue a career in the art form.

After joining the Cambridge Footlights programme, despite not studying at the university, he made some comedic contacts that he would go on to work in future projects with.

Despite a number of bit parts in comedies, Key rose to fame when he starred with Steve Coogan in his latest Alan Partridge venture.

Mid Morning Matters saw him regularly appear as "Sidekick Simon", the partner to Partridge on his show on North Norfolk Digital.

He went on to do further projects with Coogan such as the film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and the BBC series This Time with Alan Partridge.

Aside from this, he also appeared in many other comedies such as Skins, Plebs, Life's Too Short, Stag, Peep Show, Brassic, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Richard Osman's House of Games.

Most recently, the comedian starred alongside Daisy May Cooper in the BBC comedy The Witchfinder.

Key recently made the headlines for a tongue-in-cheek comment he made that comedians should strike as a show of solidarity for the show being cancelled by the BBC after only one series.

He has pursued his own stand-up comedy career for some time and has been a regular feature at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

His poetry show "The Slutcracker" won the Edinburgh Comedy Award and was nominated for the Malcom Hardee Award for comic originality.

Aside from his TV work, Tim Key regularly appears on radio and has regular shows on BBC Sounds with Tom Basden, star of After Life with Ricky Gervais.
