Labour’s Lisa Nandy appeared on the latest instalment of Good Morning Britain where she was probed by host Susanna Reid about ongoing strike action across the country. Reid told her Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer supports people’s right to strike but she claimed he “doesn’t seem to support” MPs going out on the picket line. The ITV presenter questioned why former Labour shadow minister Sam Tarry was de-selected from his constituency for giving interviews from a National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) picket line when Nady wasn’t.
Reid began: “Sam Tarry, who was a frontbencher, was sacked for being at an RMT demonstration, would Sir Keir Starmer appear on a picket line alongside striking workers, you have?”
Nandy explained she was meeting her constituents and was not picketing as her job is “to hold the Government to account as people need a pay rise”.
Reid clapped back: “What’s the difference between supporting your constituents and supporting strikers who are on a picket line, why did somebody like you not get sacked but why did Sam Tarry get sacked?”
