Body found in River Nidd during search for Sophie Lambert, 22, after young woman vanished five days ago | The Sun

A BODY has been found in a river during the search for a missing woman, 22, who vanished five days ago.

Sophie Rebecca Lambert disappeared from Harrogate, North Yorkshire on Friday last week.

Police previously said they were searching a river in the Nidd Gorge, after a member of the public found some of Sophie's belongings nearby on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police has now confirmed: "Police searching for missing Sophie Lambert in the Harrogate area have confirmed a body has been found in the River Nidd near Nidd Gorge on Wednesday morning.

"It is too early to confirm the identity, but Sophie’s family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

"We ask that their privacy is respected. We thank everyone who has supported the missing person appeal over the last few days.

Sophie had last been seen on CCTV footage at around 7pm on Friday wearing dark trousers, a black top with a white Adidas logo, and dark shoes with a white sole.

She had her hair tied back and was carrying a bottle with a pink lid.
