Boris Johnson will use his final speech as Prime Minister to warn his party against knifing leaders in the back and risking handing Labour the keys to No 10.
In a thinly veiled swipe at his backbenchers, he will say Tories must unite behind the new Prime Minister – most likely Liz Truss.
He will speak outside No 10 on Tuesday morning before travelling to Balmoral to meet the Queen and resign his premiership.

Last night, an ally said: ‘He will say the next leader must get 100 per cent support from everyone – otherwise it won’t just be the next PM who is out, but all of us. We can’t have the infighting we have had over the past few months.’
His ousting in July following a spate of Cabinet resignations came three years after Theresa May had to quit in the wake of Tory feuding.
Tories warn the new PM will ‘not last until Christmas’ if the party does not end its bitter ‘blue-on-blue’ attacks, The Sun on Sunday said.
