Boy, 12, dies in hospital after being hit by a car as heartbroken family pay tribute to ‘beautiful’ son

A heartbroken family have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful’ son after he was hit by a car and died in hospital.

Twelve-year-old Tyler Wills was knocked down on Friday afternoon in West Sussex after a car collided with him.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene along Crawley Avenue between Ifield Community College and Ifield Roundabout at roughly 2.45pm. 

Tyler was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

His family paid tribute to their ‘beautiful boy’ this evening, issuing the following statement: ‘Our beautiful boy Tyler – he was the most caring, loving, kind boy.

‘He has made his family so proud. He will be loved and missed forever. Our beautiful boy, I hope you’re up high kicking that ball. 

‘We love you more than words will ever say. Mummy loves you.’

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Nobody has been arrested, but enquiries are ongoing to find out exactly what happened.’

They added that they would like to speak to anybody who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it, or anybody with relevant dashcam footage.
