Brit fighting for life after ‘being knocked unconscious and fracturing skull’ in brutal assault on top holiday island | The Sun
A BRITISH tourist is fighting for his life after being brutally assaulted on a Tenerife party strip.
The man, believed to be around aged 30, was reportedly knocked unconscious by a punch to the head then suffered a skull fracture and internal bleeding when he hit the ground.
Three British men are understood to have been arrested by police on Tenerife over the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning in the popular resort of Playa de las Americas.
The assault happened on a main road by the Las Veronicas commercial centre, a popular night-time area with bars, clubs and restaurants known as Veronicas Strip.
Unconfirmed local media reports said the victim got into an altercation with the three men following a heavy drinking session and ended up being felled by one of the trio with a single punch.
He was assisted by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Our Lady of Candelaria University Hospital in the island capital Santa Cruz.

Officers from Spain’s National Police, the force that made the arrests following an investigation, have not yet made any official comment but are expected to say something later today.
Veronicas Strip is described in travel reviews as the “ultimate destination for partygoers” in Playa de las Americas, which is in the south of Tenerife.
It offers an array of nightclubs, bars and discos, although it is not uncommon for people to report incidents of theft, drugs and overcharging.

One English-language online travel site warns: “If you do decide to check out Playa de las Americas at night, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and not get too drunk, as you would in any city centre on a Friday or Saturday night.
“Stick together with a group and don’t engage with unsolicited offers from street vendors.”
