Cartel boss buried wearing crown after dying in ‘Fast and Furious’ race crash

Images have emerged of a drug cartel boss, who recently died in a horror Fast and Furious-style drag race crash, being buried wearing a crown.
Jesús Francisco Sarrazin Lorh, known as El Pirata (The Pirate), died during an illegal drag race in Sonora, Mexico, on Friday (November 25).
Shocking footage of the incident showed the cartel boss speeding along a race track before his car slammed into a retaining wall and flipped.

The vehicle reportedly suffered a mechanical failure with witnesses saying he was unable to brake.
More footage has now emerged, this time from El Pirata's funeral, showing him lying in an open casket wearing a crown.
Other clips show bands playing as scores of people line up to pay their respects, with El Pirata's coffin draped in flowers.
El Pirata was the leader of Los Salazar, an armed wing of the feared Sinaloa Cartel – the drug trafficking organisation that used to be led by Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán until his arrest in 2016.
He did not die instantly following the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was checked in under a false name.
After he died in hospital an investigation was launched, with medics suspicious given that a pistol was found in his clothes.
Authorities were able to identify him as El Pirata. He was a top target for Sonora's state police, who had a warrant out for his arrest for kidnapping.
El Pirata worked his way to the top ranks of the Sinaloa Cartel having originally overseen drug trafficking through the town of Huatabampo, and later Sonora's state capital of Hermosillo.

He was famed for his love of high-speed motorsport, so much so that there is even a narcocorrido – a subgenre of Mexican ballad music focusing on drug trafficking – which references his passion.
The tune, titled I Am A Pirate by singer-songwriter Edgardo Núñez, features the following lyrics: "It’s the adrenaline that changes my nerves, if I’m behind the wheel or just like blowing a horn."
