Cheeky cockatoo causes chaos on Melbourne CBD street
A cheeky cockatoo has been filmed throwing pot plants off a balcony, narrowly missing pedestrians on a Melbourne CBD street.
The footage, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on social media platforms, shows a sulphur-crested cockatoo launching pot plants onto Flinders Lane as bemused pedestrians watch below.
“Oh look, here comes another one,” an onlooker says in the video, which was first shared on the BrownCardigan Instagram account on November 28.
Cafe manager Lucie Amulet told Seven News on Wednesday that she and other workers nearby noticed the disruptive behaviour from the cockatoos in spring.
“They will take, like, socks and everything,” Amulet said.
Healesville Sanctuary’s Falk Wicker told the network sulphur-crested cockatoos are highly intelligent.
“I think it does happen from time to time that you have a very intelligent animal behaving in ways that we don’t quite understand,” he said.
