Couple allege they've been banned from Ryanair flight after argument
EXCLUSIVE Cancer patient, 52, and her fiancé are ‘banned for life from Ryanair’ and kicked off a flight after bizarre row with stewardess who ‘bumped into them and refused to apologise’
- The airline denies claims made that it has banned the couple indefinitely
- It says the couple were removed due to their ‘aggressive behaviour’
A couple claim they have been given lifetime bans by Ryanair after they became embroiled in an extraordinary row with a stewardess who bumped into them them before refusing to apologise.
Carl Davey and fiancée Anna-Leena Nordman say they have been left ‘humiliated, upset and angry’ at being kicked off the Stansted Airport to Helsinki flight on May 9.
The couple were travelling to Finland for Anna-Leena to undergo a cancer scan but as they walked through the airport to board the plane they say a stewardess in uniform bumped into her, causing her to cry out in pain, then refused to apologise.
Mr Davey, 49, followed and asked the stewardess for her name so he could complain but claims she covered the badge and walked off, refusing to identify herself.
He admits he then followed and swore at the flight attendant but assumed things were at an end when she walked off.
But when they boarded the plane they discovered the stewardess was on the same flight and the couple were ordered out of their seats and off the plane by the captain.

Ryanair refutes the couple’s claims and say they were removed from the flight due to their aggressive behaviour towards the crew on board’
The couple have been in a long distance relationship for 18 months during which time they have taken 20 Ryanair flights between them at a cost of around £2,000.
Mr Davey said: ‘We were treated like criminals. It left us humiliated, upset and angry that they treat their customers this way.
‘The stupid thing is all we wanted was an apology, we’re British, it’s the easiest word to say – even if she didn’t think she was in the wrong – but she was so dismissive she just said she hadn’t meant to and walked off.
‘I know swearing was the wrong thing to do but we spoke to the stewardess when we boarded and she said she was fine for us to fly.
‘When they told us we were getting kicked off I went to the front of the plane and tried to speak to the captain but they just said they would call the police if we didn’t get off now.’
To make matters worse, the pair claim they were hit with lifetime bans but Ryanair denies this.
Mr Davey’s ban allegedly relates to swearing while Ms Nordman, 52, claims she was told she was banned for making sexually inappropriate remarks to a member of airport staff, something the couple strongly deny.
Mr Davey added: ‘We were stressed already because my partner needed this cancer scan the next day but I know swearing was wrong so if they want to ban me fine, I wouldn’t want to fly with Ryanair again anyway.
‘But my partner did nothing other than be upset about the whole incident – the allegation she made sexual comments to staff is such a blatant lie, it’s just so insulting.
‘I have complained about bad service from Ryanair before so it feels like they are using that against me.’
To ensure they made the appointment the couple spent another £600 on flights with another airline – on top of the £200 they already spent – and flew out from Heathrow later that day.
Footage emerged in September of a separate incident which led to the removal of a ‘rude’ and ‘intoxicated’ man being removed from a Ryanair flight from Girona to Bournemouth
Mr Davey runs an online record shop from his home in Exmouth, Devon, while his wife-to-be, lives in Helsinki but plans to move to the UK when they marry next year.
They have been in a long distance relationship for 18 months during which time they have taken 20 Ryanair flights between them at a cost of around £2,000.
The couple claim that they attempted to book another flight with the budget airline before being told by officials they would not be allowed to board it, leading them to believe they had been banned for life.
However, Ryanair refutes the couple’s claims, saying in a statement: ‘Mr Davey and Miss Nordman are not “banned for life from Ryanair”. These passengers were offloaded from this flight from Stansted to Helsinki (9 May) due to their aggressive behaviour towards the crew on board.’
In September footage emerged of separate incident of a ‘rude’ and ‘intoxicated’ man being removed from a Ryanair flight from Girona to Bournemouth by police after insulting the cabin crew.
The passenger apparently repeatedly told a female flight attendant to ‘f*** off’ after she refused to serve him more alcohol.
