Dances With Wolves star had ‘suicide pills for his five wives in case police stormed their Las Vegas home’: Arrest for sexually abusing young girls comes seven years after he was banned from Fort Peck Reservation amid human trafficking allegations
- Nathan Chasing Horse, 46, was taken into custody in Las Vegas on Tuesday
- He is accused of being a cult leader and sexually abusing young indigenous girls
An actor who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly running a cult which sexually abused young indigenous girls had suicide pills for his five wives in case police stormed his Las Vegas home, according to a new report.
Nathan Chasing Horse, 46, is known for his role as Smiles a Lot – a young Sioux tribe member in the 1990 Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves.
The critically acclaimed movie saw him star alongside Kevin Costner, and he went on to gain a reputation among tribes across the US and Canada as a so-called medicine man who performed healing ceremonies and spiritual gatherings.
But that reputation was damaged seven years ago when tribal leaders banned him from the Fort Peck Reservation amid human trafficking allegations, and shattered on Tuesday when he was taken into custody near his North Las Vegas home.

Police have accused him of using his reputation ‘as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions,’ according to an arrest warrant, which noted that his followers believed he could communicate with higher beings.
Now, a new report has said Chasing Horse may have had a gruesome contingency plan in place ready to be hatched if the police came to his home.
Citing sources, CBS affiliate KLAS 8 News Now reported that police believe the actor planned for his wives (of which he is believed to have at least five) to take ‘suicide pills’ and be ready for a shootout with law enforcement officers.
Las Vegas police were investigating the actor’s home in the north of the Nevada city for hours after he was taken into custody, the news station reported. SWAT officers were seen outside the two-story home as detectives carried out their search.
No resistance has been reported by the police when they entered the property, or when they arrested the actor near his home.
However, when moving in to raid the house, a chief concern among officers was the possibility of unsecured firearms being in the property, even with children present, 8 News Now said.

His arrest is the culmination of a months-long investigation that began after police received a tip in October 2022.
According to a 50-page search warrant obtained by the Associated Press, Chasing Horse is believed to be the leader of a cult known as The Circle.
The document says Las Vegas police have identified at least six alleged victims and uncovered sexual allegations against Chasing Horse dating to the early 2000s in multiple states, including Montana, South Dakota (where he was born), Nevada, where he has lived for about a decade, and even Canada.
Some of the alleged victims were as young as 13, according to the warrant. One of Chasing Horse’s wives was allegedly offered to him as a ‘gift’ when she was 15, while another became a wife after turning 16.
Chasing Horse also is accused of recording sexual assaults and arranging sex with the victims for other men who allegedly paid him.
8NewsNow reported that police said victims were given emergency contraceptive pills after Chasing Horse had sex with them to prevent any unwanted pregnancies.
The outlet said there could be even more victims and co-conspirators.

There was no lawyer listed in court records for Chasing Horse who could comment on his behalf as of Tuesday evening, Associated Press said.
Chasing Horse was born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, which is home to the Sicangu Sioux, one of the seven tribes of the Lakota nation.
According to the warrant, he was banished in 2015 from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, amid allegations of human trafficking.
‘Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions,’ it reads
Followers believed he could communicate with higher beings and referred to him as ‘Medicine Man’ or ‘Holy Person,’ the warrant adds.
Although the warrant includes details of crimes reported elsewhere, the arrest stems from crimes allegedly committed in Nevada’s Clark County. They include sex trafficking, sexual assault of a child younger than 16 and child abuse.
His arrest comes as state attorneys general and lawmakers around the U.S. are looking into creating specialized units to handle cases involving Native women.
In South Dakota, the attorney general’s office has put a new focus on crimes against Native American people, including human trafficking and murders.
